The recording symbolizes the dark, hidden side of the realm of reason and the Enlightenment: the architecture of the building of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic at Národní třida is emitting dark, deep noise from the underground at irregular intervals. From two gaps in the pavement right of the main entrance, coming a stream of air, accompanied by a low frequency noise. Mostly without notice of the surrounding pedestrians. After founding of the Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences in 1954, the former Spořitelna building (built by Ignác Vojtech Ullmann) was transferred to the property of the Academy. It required dislocation of some of the original interior equipment, including two representative apartments. Towards Krocínova Street a garage with a terrace was built in 1956. Listen with headphones.
